Safari Browser Marketshare 6.65%, IE Slides, Firefox Doubles

Microsoft IE continued its slide in September, according to Net Applications web metrics data. IE accounted for 71.5% of the browser market share in September, down from 72.2% in August. Meanwhile, Apple Safari browser climbed to all time high of 6.65%, up from 3.26% in May. In comparison to year-to-date data, IE is down 4.5 percentage points. Read more

Market Share: iPhone Browser 0.30%, Safari 6.37%, Mac 7.86%

According to Net Applications, as of 31 August, the iPhone had 0.30% of global web browser market share, an increase of 58% in one month (see Trend for ‘iPhone’). This was due to the July launch of the iPhone 3G. The data shows that the iPhone usage grew quickly with the initial launch, and held steady for the four months prior to the release of the iPhone 3G.
