October 28, 2008

Google Street View on iPhoneApple has seeded iPhone 2.2 firmware beta 2 to developers, adding Google Street View support including the mass transit directions and schedules offered by Google Transit. Rumor has it, more exciting features are coming.

Estimated commute times are included with directions for public transport, while walking directions automatically steer clear of busy streets. Additionally, iPhone 2.2 beta 2 adds support for line-in audio accessories to the SDK, which could lead to VOIP calling applications or better audio recording with the iPhone.

There are two more new feature. When you attempt to delete an application from your iPhone or iPod touch, you’ll be asked to rate it. Some people will find this feature annoying. Of course, you can always touch “No Thanks” button. Users will also be able to download podcasts directly to their devices. A release date for Apple’s new iPhone software is still unknown.
