Apple iPod Touch Passes Pickup Truck Crash Test

September 30, 2008

iPod Touch Pickup Truck Crash TestIn an amazing twist of events, Apple’s beloved iPod touch was pronounced dead after being crushed in a hit and run accident by a pickup truck. But, wait a minute. We’ve just received a tip that its condition has been upgraded to “alive” after distraught owner pressed the black button to turn on the device.

“Believe it or not, this iPod touch is alive after being crushed by a pickup truck almost beyond the point of no return,” - reported Gizmodo editor Jesus Diaz. “And it actually looks good below all that shattered glass. It will probably cut your fingertips though, which is good for your criminal record but bad for your iPod touch’s blood tolerance.”

“Never in my life have I lost my ipod touch until last Saturday. The only time I lose it, it gets ran over by a pickup truck. Heres what happened. I was at a walk, a dirt road, and I bent over and I guess my iPod falls out of my pocket. However, I hadn’t noticed my iPod had fallen until an hour later when my friends call me,” explained unfortunate iPod touch owner identified only by his nickname ’spongyiq‘ at iPod Touch Fans forum. “They [my friends] were on a pickup truck which happened to be on the same route I was on; and then… yes, they accidentally run over it.” What a coincidence, indeed. But, the story does have a happy ending.

“Once I got the iPod back in my hands I almost cried,” he said. “As sad as I was,” he continued, “I was still delighted when I pressed the little black button to turn on the iPod. It worked perfectly, the touch screen, the music, the Wi-Fi. Everything was exactly the same, other then the crippled screen and dented back. So I guess my story does have a happy ending.” We wonder what would have happened if a pick up truck run over Microsoft Zune?
