iPhone 3G Remains the Top-Selling Phone at AT&T Stores
September 3, 2008
The Blackberry Curve is not the best selling smartphone at AT&T stores anylonger. According to data from Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt, the iPhone 3G remains the top-selling phone at most AT&T stores in North America and the United Kingdom.
McCourt wrote in a note to investors Tuesday that the Blackberry Curve was AT&T’s top-seller for more than a year, but the iPhone 3G “siphoned off sales from other smartphone vendors.” To better compete with Apple’s smartphone, RIM has already cut the price of its Blackberry Curve from $149 down to $99.
McCourt thinks lower prices may help the Curve accelerate sales. The Samsung Blackjack 2, Palm Centro and Blackberry Pearl remain the top-sellers behind the iPhone 3G and Blackberry Curve. McCourt maintained that Apple would sell 6.1 million units of its revolutionary smartphone this quarter - half of them in the U.S. and the other half internationally.
