Palluxo! Outage Result of Phoenix Data Center Power Loss
July 23, 2008
Dear Palluxo! readers, at approximately 4:15 CDT time today we experienced a complete loss of power to our Phoenix data center. The Power company informed us that the entire power grid in that area is down and they have no ETA for resolution.
When the power outage occurred, our UPS system and generators functioned as they are designed, but the transfer switch that cuts the data center over to the generator power source failed.
We have our Electrical contractor on site now trying to resolve the issue. They have not provided an ETA for resolution at this time. Our readers might experience more outage throughout the day and I apologize to all of you in advance. According to Sungard, business continuity supplier, power supply failures were the fastest growing source of business disruption last year, as rising IT systems’ demands put increasing strain on the electricity infrastructure.
If there is anything we can assist you, please let us know, otherwise we ask our readers to wait patiently, while checking back for any updates in 2 hour intervals, if this should last that long.
Best Regards,
Daniel Toljaga
