RUMOR: Apple to Open Modesto Store in November
July 5, 2008
According to Modesto Bee staff writer Eve Hightower, Apple is hiring people to work in Modesto, fueling rumors that the company will open a retail store here. Apple refused to confirm or deny rumors, but job listings on Monster.com and Apple’s web site indicate the company is hiring for at least 11 retail positions in Modesto.
Positions include store manager, assistant store manager, inventory specialist, genius, cashier, and more. The planned store is rumored to be located at Vintage Faire in Modesto.
According to Hightower, “Vintage Faire is adding 10 stores and two restaurants in its expanded section, the Village at Vintage Faire, which is scheduled to open in November. Nine of those businesses have yet to be identified. Fulton said their names will be announced when agreements are solidified.”
Vintage Faire is currently under redevelopment. The new outdoor lifestyle addition at Vintage Faire Mall is designed to be a gathering place for the community, with new shopping and dining, plus places to sip coffee and just enjoy a welcoming outdoor environment. New-to-market retailers and restaurants will be positioned around two landscaped plazas that meet at a “main street” lined with convenient diagonal parking. Each building within the village will have an individual character, and face broad walkways and lawns to create an inviting, one-of-a-kind shopping experience that complements the popular offerings of Vintage Faire Mall.
If rumor turns out to be true, this would be be the third Apple store in the Central Valley, after Sacramento and Fresno.
