Bell Mobility Strikes Major Blow to Rogers Wireless iPhone 3G
July 4, 2008
Bell Mobility announced it will introduce the Samsung Instinct, a stylish and highly intelligent touch-screen mobile phone with haptic feedback, to Canada on August 8. In a major blow to Rogers Wireless, Bell will offer the phone with the option of an unlimited data plan. Rogers is already taking heat from potential Canadian customers over data rate plans it announced for the iPhone 3G.
The timing couldn’t be better for Bell to exploit Rogers’ iPhone 3G pricing model and even position the Instinct as a top smartphone choice for Canadian consumers.
No matter what the overly biased critics like Endgadget or Gizmodo say, the Samsung Instinct beats the iPhone 3G fair and square, and if Apple doesn’t like it, too bad. We all expected iPhone 3G to be “wow” and what we got was more like “yawn.” Hopefully that will change. But for now, we have the iPhone 3G Killer, which is on its way to become the top smartphone choice for Canadian consumers.
Already a hot seller in the United States since its introduction there last month, the sleek and slender Samsung Instinct offers easy touch or stylus navigation on its full QWERTY touch-screen keyboard and extra-large high-resolution display.
The Samsung Instinct will also be available with a wide range of voice and data plans, including the $10 Unlimited Mobile Browser add-on data plan that allows unlimited Internet access.
“We are thrilled to offer Canadians this beautifully designed and intelligent device. Accessing the Internet, listening to downloaded music or satellite radio, watching TV or using it as a GPS system, it’s all a real pleasure with the Samsung Instinct thanks to its powerful touch screen and easy interface,” said Adel Bazerghi, Vice President, Products for Bell Mobility.
“Data pricing plans available with the Samsung Instinct will offer also exceptional value and let clients take full advantage of Bell Mobility’s wide range of data services.”
Bell offers access to the fastest and largest high-speed mobile data network across North America, including a range of multimedia and other data services that are perfect for the Samsung Instinct, and they are:
GPS Nav turn-by-turn navigation with audio directions and live traffic updates and messaging services such as Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail. Additionally, with more than two million songs, Bell’s Full Track Music service is the largest mobile music catalogue in Canada, and the only one to offer full album downloads, artist bios and music reviews. Bell offers an unlimited subscription service for $15 per month. Bell’s Mobile television features more than 20 popular channels, and exclusive HBO programming. Bell also offers SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and other perks.
The Samsung Instinct includes a 2.0 MP camera/camcorder and supports up to an 8 GB Micro SD card, allowing clients to download and permanently retain content by purchasing additional cards if necessary.
Samsung Instinct pricing
The Samsung Instinct will be available for as little as $149.95 on a three-year contract, $249.95 on a two-year contract or $399.95 on a one-year contract. Clients can buy the Samsung Instinct without a term contract for $449.95. For more info, you can visit Bell Canada web site.
