Ladies, Charge Your iPhone or iPod with Solar Power Bra
May 16, 2008
Ladies could soon start charging their iPhones and iPods with Solar Powered Bras designed by Japanese lingerie maker Triumph International. The eco-friendly Solar Power Bra is made of high quality organic cotton to ensure its production has the smallest possible impact on the environment.
The product is also equipped with plastic pouches that can be filled with water, allowing wearers to quench their thirst without having to buy and then throw away hard-to-recycle drinks bottles.
According to model Yuko Ishida, the Solar Power Bra is “very comfortable and I can really feel involved in eco-friendly efforts as well.” Unfortunately, it is still a concept product for now, and we all know that not many interesting concepts enter production phase. Remember iPod iWatch inventor Peter Burns? We recently interviewed him only to learn that his super-cool iPod concept hasn’t gone into production stage, yet. Who knows what will happen with the latest solar-powered iPod/iPhone accessories concept.
The Solar Power Bra concept depends on solar power, which works by gathering energy via the Sun. This means that the solar panel requires direct sunlight to work. Green-colored brassiere includes a solar belt that goes around the stomach, but its creator admits that “people usually cannot got outside without wearing clothes over it” and says it should not be washed or worn in the rain to avoid damage. This makes the product a bit impractical - but with few clever improvements, it could actually work great.
Being eco-friendly is now fashionable in Japan, and the Solar Energy Bra follows the company’s other green-themed undergarments that include a bra that turns into a reusable shopping bag and one that featured metal chopsticks to promote the use of reusable chopsticks.
