It’s Wise to Protect MacBook Air with Slim Hard Shell Case
May 11, 2008
As a MacBook Air user, you want to protect your notebook. While MacBook Air’s design is breathtakingly beautiful, the outer shell is ultrathin and fragile. MacBook Air is not really something you can just toss to any backpack or bag without worrying about getting a scratch or worse.
But, there is something you can do about it! MacBook Air SeeThru Hard Shell Case from Speck comes handy to ensure extra protection for your favorite laptop. The case comes in four colors depending on your taste - clear, smoke, pink, and cranberry - and is made specifically for the MacBook Air; it will not fit on other MacBooks or PowerBooks.
Although the case will add one pound of weight to your notebook (which we are sure you will not like!), we still think it’s well worth it, because the case is made of thin polycarbonate plastic, which is shatterproof and will protect your MacBook Air quite nicely. You don’t have to use it all the time, but it does come handy during travel, or when you toss your MacBook Air into your sports backpack, or in any other similar situation.
You can use your MacBook Air without removing the case. All the ports, plugs, holes, and features of your MacBook Air remain accessible with the case on. Simply open and close the MacBook Air like you would without the case to use it. You can take the case off at any time - it is easy to put on and take off, and is not “permanent” in any way. The SeeThru Case stays secure on your MacBook Air, but also snaps off easily for removal.
You will need to dust your MacBook Air to remove any small particles before installing the case. And the install process takes about 10 seconds: just place the bottom of your MacBook Air into the bottom half of the SeeThru case, and the very small tabs will snap around the edges to hold it on. Then, place the top half of the case on the top of your MacBook Air, and make sure the tabs snap on the edges. Done! The SeeThru Hard Case retails for $49.95 and is available from Speck’s online store.

You’re crazy. Who would pay $1800 for a computer that’s only 3 pounds, and then buy a case for an extra pound? What terrible advice! You must be getting commission on these cases!
Hi Dan Heinze. No we don’t get commission on these cases, but I have recently purchased their hard shell case to protect my MacBook Air from scratches during travel.
