Update: Apple TV Version 2.0.2 is Available

Apple has released a new version of the Apple TV software without any announcements or explanations. Version 2.0.2 is a minor update delivering a collection of small bug-fixes to Apple’s set-top box. This is the third software update to Apple TV this year.

Last month, Apple TV quietly updated to version 2.0.1 delivering important enhancements to this popular movie rental box.

The latest update prevents the device from slowing down when images of movie posters are loaded or when listings of movies, TV shows, and music are pulled together from shared computers. Additional known improvements introduced within the software update include the addition of a viewable gallery of a contact’s favourite photos when accessing Flickr.

It took us about 7 minutes to download this update On a 5Mbps DSL broadband connection and another 3 minutes to install it.

Users can obtain 2.0.2. Update for free by using Apple TV’s Settings, selecting General  and Update Software command. Once you see ”Software updating” message, you will be presented with the choice “Update now” or ”Update later.” Select “Update now” for changes to take effect.
